A LIFELINE OF HOPE
PROGRAM OVERVIEW BY Ken callen, PROGRAM DIRECTOR
After hearing about the innovative ways Tulsa Boys’ Home was providing healing and hope to Oklahoma’s most troubled young boys, Ken Callen instantly knew he wanted to be a part of that innovation. Since 1999, Ken has fulfilled many rolls at Tulsa Boys’ Home, actively participating in the treatment process taking place on our campus. Now, more than 22 years later, he is delighted to serve as the Program Director, overseeing the operations throughout the TBH campus, specifically our program that provides treatment to boys who are placed by the Child Welfare Division of the Department of Human Services.
Ken values being a part of the lifesaving work taking place at Tulsa Boys’ Home and finds it rewarding to see our boys succeed in their treatment. “Most of our boys face multiple challenges on a daily basis as a result of being displaced from their families, having a history of unsuccessful placements and living with past trauma they are working to overcome”. By providing our boys with much needed counseling services, an educational experience that meets them where they are, and exposure to positive, patient and loving adult role models, young lives are being saved!
As an agency, we are committed to giving our boys an opportunity to live a life that is well-adjusted and full of hope for their future. “It is my belief that the Tulsa Boys’ Home gives every boy that comes to us for care the ability to live a happy and successful life despite the trauma they have endured before arriving on our campus” says Ken. We have the ability and momentum to change a boy’s life for a lifetime! We see change occurring every day, thanks to our staff, Board Members, volunteers and donors coming together for this common cause of providing healing and hope in young boys’ lives.
